With IPL coming to an end last Friday, UAE and Oman now gears up to welcome international cricket teams to play the T20 World Cup at their respective stadiums
The world saw a rather dramatic end to the Abu Dhabi leg of the 2021 Indian Premier League as Mumbai Indians beat Sunrisers Hyderabad with 235-9 in their 42 run victory, which is the highest score of any innings this season, in both UAE and India – making Mumbai Indians’ the largest ever total in the IPL!
IPL allowed cricket supporters into the stadium with the capacity of 2,000 each match which means, the stadiums were running at 95% across the eight matches – Closing the season with a total of 15,200 supporters present at the matches.
To ensure the safety of all involved, there were over 50 volunteers and marshals on hand for each game, as well as 50 members of Abu Dhabi Police and a further 47 Abu Dhabi Cricket staff members.
In preparation for the upcoming T20 world cup, cricket teams have started to fly into the country to begin training and settling down before the big day! Abu Dhabi will be the first one to kick off the tournament starting Monday, October 18th.
