The Yas Marina Circuit has become one of the most iconic race venues in Formula 1 to this date since being first added to the calendar back in 2009.
With the amazing track having already provided plenty of classic and history-making F1 moments, this year will be no different as we’re heading into the final race of the season this weekend to decide the 2021 FIA Formula One World Championship – Will Verstappen become the new F1 title winner or will Hamilton claim the title for the 8th time? Let us know what you think!
Here’s everything you need to know before watching the final race:
- Circuit changes: Yas Marina Circuit went through multiple changes after receving lots of critcisms – It has become a much more faster track with three main areas reconfigured, allowing more overtaking oppoutunities as well. The number of corners have decresed as well from 21 corner to only 16.
- The race will consist of 58 laps.
- Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton are heading into Sunday with the same amount of points. This year is the first time in 74 years the driver’s championship has been this close with equal points!
- Those two aren’t the only drivers to look out for – Charles Leclerc (Ferrari), Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) & Lando Norris (McLaren) are the three drivers fighting for P5 in the Driver’s Championship 2021.
- Constructor’s Championship: As much as each indiviual driver’s race is important in the competition, they are also racing as a team – As of right now, the two teams battling out for P1 are Mercedes with 587.5 points and Red Bull with 559.5 points, thats a 28 points gap! Red Bull Racing can still win the Constructor’s championship if both, Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez end up on the podium with more than points than Mercedes. This is spiccyyyyy!
- Goodbyes: The world will be witnessing a very emotional race for a few drivers this weekend as they say goodbye to their teams of the past few years – Those drivers include, Valterri Bottas (Mercedes to Alfa Romeo), George Russell (Williams to Mercedes), Kimi Raikkkonen (Retiring), Antonio Giovinazzi (Leaving F1 to join Formula E).
