Choreographer Sofiane Chalal’s XXL comes to Sharjah on 29 November 2026. The free hip-hop dance performance runs from 8:30 to 9:30 pm at Khalid Bin Mohammed School.
What XXL explores
The work looks at body image, acceptance and the judgements people face because of their size. Sharjah Art Foundation’s description explains how Chalal draws on everyday gestures and personal experiences, using humour alongside the subject of exclusion.
For readers curious about contemporary dance, this gives the evening a clear starting point: watching how movement can tell stories about the way people see themselves and others. It is a chance to explore a familiar social issue through live performance.
How to plan your visit
Admission is free, and advance booking is required. Select 29 November and the 8:30 pm session on the official ticket page.
Plan to arrive before the start. Doors close at 8:30 pm, and late arrivals will not be admitted. The listed finish time is 9:30 pm, which helps when arranging your journey home.
For another performance that month, Sim Chi Yin’s Longings, Returns on 22 November explores family memory and exile at the same venue.
