The Otolith Group is a London-based art collective consisting of Anjalika Sagar and Kodwo Eshun; their work is mostly research-based, suspended between fiction, poetry, documentary and theory – All while being projected using different forums such as images, post-cinematic films, high definition videos, multiple screen installations and more!
Their most recent project called ‘Xenogenesis’ brings together a selection of their key works created between 2011 and 2018. This reflects the artists’ dedication in creating what they call ‘ A Science Fiction of the Present’ through the use of images, voices, sounds and performance.
‘Xenogenesis’ references to the African-American science-fiction novelist, Octavia Butler’s trilogy and is a term that puts together ‘xenos’, a Greek prefix meaning strange/alien with the suffix ‘genesis’ meaning origin/generation.
The art exhibition, ‘Xenogenisis’ will have an opening ceremony on November 13th at Sharjah Art Foundation.
