Art exhibitions never fail to make you feel like you’re in some fairytale world. They get us all thinkin we the main character and we own the world 😀

The essence of life is water. It has the ability to conjure up images of life, birth, motherhood, purity, and, eventually, death. These principles connect with all cultures around the world, as well as humanity’s deepest wants and aspirations. Water has always played an important role in Islamic lands, not just on a practical level, but also in religious, spiritual, and creative areas.

So, the Shajrah Museums Authority decided to host the Drop by Drop exhibition, in collaboration with Fonfazione Torino Musei, to showcase the special relationship between water and Islam.

This collaborative initiative aims to emphasize the shared cultural history that binds Italy to the Arab-Islamic world. More than 120 artworks on loan from 16 prominent Italian public and private collections, as well as from the permanent collection of Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization and Sharjah Art Museum, form an intellectual journey distinguished by four key themes.

The exhibition has four sections: The Blessings of Water and Islam, Water and Daily Life, Traditional Hammams and Gardens , collectively illustrate the historical development of the numerous roles played by water in daily life, and represent the artistic embodiment of this element in the shapes and purposes of the Arabic and Islamic arts and artefacts.

You can visit the exhibition anytime until the 11th of December 2021 from 8am-8pm at the Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization. The entry fee is 5 AED for children 2-12 years old, and 10 AED for adults 13 and older.

Have fun and stay safe!
