If you’re a book lover then you’re going to love this! Sharjah City of Humanitarian Services (SCHS) is organizing its second-hand book market Souq Al-Warraqeen for 1 day!
Souq Al-Warraqeen, which has been held on a regular basis since 2006, sells books in a variety of subjects, including general knowledge, religion, social sciences, literature, and fine arts.
The market is a continuation of SCHS’s cultural function of delivering helpful books at cheap costs to individuals with disabilities and the broader public.
The name “Souq Al-Warraqeen” (paper makers’ market) was inspired by the historic profession of “Warraq” (papermaker) in the Abbasid Era, where Warraqs were in charge of all book-related professions such as copying, editing, writing, selling ink and pens, and publishing, similar to modern-day publishing houses.
2022’s first Souq Al-Warraqeen event will take place this weekend on Saturday, February 5th from 9 am-8 pm at Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services. So get your nerdy selves out and visit the Souq for some great books at reasonable prices!
