If you’re a book lover then you’re going to love this! Sharjah City of Humanitarian Services (SCHS) is organizing its second-hand book market Souq Al-Warraqeen for 1 day!
Souq Al-Warraqeen, which has been held on a regular basis since 2006, sells books in a variety of subjects, including general knowledge, religion, social sciences, literature, and fine arts.
The market is a continuation of SCHS’s cultural function of delivering helpful books at cheap costs to individuals with disabilities and the broader public.
The name “Souq Al-Warraqeen” (paper makers’ market) was inspired by the historic profession of “Warraq” (papermaker) in the Abbasid Era, where Warraqs were in charge of all book-related professions such as copying, editing, writing, selling ink and pens, and publishing, similar to modern-day publishing houses.
Souq Al-Warraqeen event is taking place today on Saturday, June 4th until 8pm at Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services. So get your nerdy selves out and visit the Souq for some great books at reasonable prices!
