Good news biking lovers!
Dubai’s Mushrif National Park is constructing a new 50km sand bike track, which is the first-ever track of its kind to be built by Dubai Municipality!
This development was approved by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai which includes the track to be built amongst the Park’s forest surrounded by over 70,000 trees.
The sand bike track has been designed and constructed to meet the requirements of amateur and professional cyclists, in addition to encouraging the public to try the activity as well. To further add to this, it will also serve as a venue for future regional and international competitions.
The first phase of the construction features the plan to build three crossing bridges and on completion of the project, a total of ten bridges will have been built. The track will start near the main gate of the park and end in the same spot too, which will also include three quick-return lanes connected to the three rest stop also featuring bike rental and repair shops. How convenient!
The National Park is located just 10km away from Dubai International Park and is one of the most popular, oldest park in Dubai. It completes the park with the addition of indigenous wildlife in the lush forest home to hundreds of native species and rare birds.
The track is expected to welcome well over 3,000 cyclists per day and to host exciting sports and adventure events in the future.
