Dubai Will Have 25% of 3D Printed Buildings by 2030

Are we even surprised?

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, UAE Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, issued a decree to regulate the use of 3D printing in the construction industry of Dubai as a way to promote the emirate as a regional and global centre of technology.

Dubai 3D Printing Strategy was first announced in 2016 and is moving fast to ensure that at least 25% of Dubai’s building in the emirate is constructed using the technology by 2030

In terms of what has already been built using the 3D construction printer, Dubai has already built two buildings which are ‘The Office of the Future at the Emirates Tower’, this was also the world’s first 3D printed office and is in full operation.

The second building would be ‘Dubai Municipality’s Centre for Innovation’ which won the Guinness World Record in 2019 for being the first 3D printed two-storey building in the world!

Under the framework of the Decree, Dubai Municipality will be promoting the use of 3D printing in collaboration with government and non-government entities to encourage the usage of 3D printing in the construction industry.
