Honestly, we’re jealous
When you picture the perfect friendship, it’s not every day that you think about UFC’s retired legend and HH the Crown Prince of Dubai, right? Well – Khabib Nurmagomedov just took to the ‘gram to boast about how close he is with Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum after being gifted boxes of fresh dates straight from Dubai all the way to the USA!
When you think about it, their friendship isn’t so unlikely at all. Both are icons, and both are sportsmen as well. Khabib used to train in the Nad Al Sheba Sports Complex while preparing for UFC bouts too, so you know he’s comfortable in the UAE! For the unification clash against Justin Gaetheje at UFC 254 in Abu Dhabi last October, the then-lightweight spent the majority of his training camp in Dubai!
Even though he retired immediately after that fight, he returned to the sports complex in Dubai where he met Sheikh Hamdan once more. Sheikh Hamdan meanwhile, is a multiple World Champion at the World Equestrian Games – and he’s a global icon known for his poetry too!
The two will probably hang out again real soon – given that the fighting champion has also spoken about how he wants to open a gym in the UAE soon.
