How do restaurants receive a Michelin Star?

It’s very simple. A prestigious group of Michelin food critics anonymously inspect restaurants, from village inns to the restaurants of the five-star hotels, all across the city as they search for the best spots through different price ranges and cuisines.

Now, it isn’t all that easy now; These restaurants have to meet specific criteria including the quality of the ingredients, mastery of cooking, harmony of flavours, personality of the chef through the cuisine, and consistency over time as well as across the entire menu. As easy it is to gain that star, it is easy to lose it depending on the restaurant’s reputation over time.

Here’s what each star means in simpler terms:

One Michelin Star = The restaurant is being praised for its high-quality cooking and is worth a stop.

Two Michelin Star = Honouring the establishment for its excellent cooking that is worth a detour.

Three Michelin Star = 1000/10 for exceptional cuisine.

Many more stars to come!
