New Year, New Rules
With Sharjah transferring into a four-day workweek from January 1st, 2022, there are a lot of changes the emirate is going through to make sure the transition into this new system is done smoothly.
To ensure that, schools were given an option to choose one of three models to make up for the loss of academic days every week, which the students will be missing out on one academic day per week.
According to Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA), here’s how schools can make up for that time loss:
- Increase Daily Timings
Private schools can modify their study schedules and class duration along with increasing the working school hours as they see fit. However, the number of classes for each subject should not be reduced.
2. Hold Online Classes After School Hours
Schools have an option to hold a maximum of three hours of online classes per week.
3. Add An Extra Week To The Academic Year
Schools will be allowed to add a maximum of seven days to the academic year – This can either be done by extending the school year for an additional week before the start of the summer vacation or by taking the flexible holiday week granted to schools.
Ministry Curriculum Schools
Any private schools that follow the Ministry of Education’s curriculum must follow the timetable specified by the ministry when it comes to assessments and exam dates.
