Visit Sharjah Film Platform 4 Festival to Enjoy A Wide Variety of Films Playing On the Big Screen!

We love!

Sharjah Film Platform is an annual Sharjah Art Foundation film festival that began in 2018 with the goal of promoting film production in the United Arab Emirates and the surrounding region. The festival is a continuation of the Foundation’s long-standing commitment to film programming and the support of established and aspiring filmmakers!

SFP includes a core film screening program, awards, talks, and workshops, as well as an industry-focused program that serves as a valuable resource for film production in the UAE and beyond. The Short Film Production Grant, which provides funding to emerging filmmakers for the creation and production of original short films, is an essential component of the festival!

The festival offers a diverse film program that includes narrative, documentary, and experimental short and feature-length films. The program, which honors the work of local, regional, and international filmmakers, includes films chosen through an annual open call as well as a number of invited cinematic works. Screenings take place in various SFP venues, and films will be available for streaming online during the festival’s third edition this year.

Sharjah Film Platform 4 (SFP4) will feature the world premieres of Janus Victoria’s The Myth of Manila (2021) and Pelin Tan and Anton Vidokle’s work in progress, Notes for a film about Gilgamesh (2021), both of which were supported by SFP Short Film Production Grants. SFP4 also includes a special segment focusing on the work of renowned Palestinian filmmaker Michel Khleifi, whose films depict the lives of Palestinians under Israeli occupation from a social and political standpoint. Wedding in Galilee (1987), The Tale of Three Lost Jewels (1995), and Zindeeq (1999) are among the films in ‘Director in Focus’ (2009).

The Festival Pass–Cinemas and Online allows one person to attend all of the festival’s screenings. The Festival Pass–Online entitles you to a selection of SFP4 film screenings via the festival’s online platform.

The festival also offers online and on-site talks and masterclasses for adults, as well as filmmaking workshops for children. Talks and workshops are free to attend and can be accessed through our virtual platform; however, prior registration is required.
