Lighting up our home in the most beautiful way! 😍
Sharjah Light Festival had its opening night yesterday and it’s already the talk of the town! There’s so much to do, explore and look at so we thought we would put up a list of everything that’s happening at the festival this year for you to enjoy.
The Show:
The opening ceremony at University City Hall last night had everyone mesmerised by the way the show interpreted everything we love about Sharjah, from its history and achievements to underlining the prominent role the sea and library played in everyday life.
The show then turned the crowd’s focus to the present Sharjah, highlighting all it has accomplished in different fields such as education, art, astronomy, architecture, communication and the environment.
One of many things we find so cool about this festival is the fact it’s happening at various locations all around Sharjah’s infamous landmarks, about 10 of them, and how each of them touches upon different illustrated stories such as Islamic heritage along with offering a vision of the past, present, and future of Sharjah.
Here are the locations where SLF is taking place around the emirates:
Activities:
There’s a lot of fun going down there and you definitely don’t want to let your kiddos miss them out!
Food Truck Zone has more than 30 participating food trucks this year from various enterprises in the food, beverage, and confectionery sectors.
Is it even a festival if there is no competition? Absolutely not! This contest involves not only the public but the media as well.
The competition for media professionals is divided into three categories:
- Journalists, where prizes are given for the best coverage in Arabic and best coverage in English.
- Photographers, which recognises the best photograph in Arabic newspapers and best photograph in English newspapers
- Social Media Platforms, which will reward the best media coverage of the event on Instagram.
The winners will be announced to the public on @visit_shj via Instagram with more than Dh20,000 has been allocated for the three photos of the festival.
Have you seen any of the landmarks lit up yet?
