A 1 Rupee Coin Was Just Sold at Auction for Over AED 4,000,000 and We Can’t Believe It

Re 1 = AED 4,000,000

A Re 1 coin was just auctioned off for AED 4,872,757 Can’t believe it? Neither could we. This specific coin, however, is special. It was minted in 1885, during the British Raj in India.

If you are someone who collects old coins, then this isn’t all that surprising to you. But, to others, well this blew our minds. Apparently, people spend hundreds of thousands of dinars on these old coins. Who knew?

Who else is about to rush home and look through the old coins in the bottom of the drawer? Just us?

You can earn even more if you have a Rs 5 or a Rs 10 coin with a photo of Mata Vaishno Devi on it.

The auction happened online, and the person who bought it is not known. But we’re guessing it’s someone with deep pockets.

Cha-Ching?
