According to the country’s media office, the weekend in the United Arab Emirates will be moved to Saturday and Sunday beginning January 1, 2022.

Government agencies will switch to a four-and-a-half-day work week, with employees working Monday through Thursday and taking a half-day on Friday. Friday hours will be 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
There were no specific instructions or guidance issued regarding the private sector.
The new system will require federal employees to work from 7.30 p.m. to 3.30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and from 7.30 a.m. to midday on Friday. On Fridays, there is the choice of flexible working and working from home. Throughout the year, Friday sermons and prayers will be held at 1.15pm.
According to the UAE Government Media Office, the new long weekend will “boost productivity and improve work-life balance.”
