Travel update we’ve all been waiting for!
The National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA) along with the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) announced in its weekly media briefing this morning, the updated Covid-19 protocols in regards to travelling to countries on the travel curbs list.
This decision was announced to strengthen the country’s strategy for full recovery from the pandemic and gradually reopen all the private and public sectors, with an aim to go back to “normal life”.

This will apply to all those countries that are on the restricted travel list as of October 27th, Wednesday.
Here are the full travel protocols that must be followed by all Emirati residents and citizens:
- Those fully vaccinated with the approved COVID-19 vaccines will be allowed to travel.
- Those probhited from travelling are: Emiratis over the age of 70 & unvaccinated citizens.
- The two protocols above do not apply to patients, UAE diplmatic missions, humanitarian cases and all those studying abroad on scholarships.
What you need to know before returning to UAE:
- Passengers returning from these countries are required to present a valid negative PCR test results – with a QR code – conducted within the last 48 hours from the time of departure.
- A negative Rapid PCR Test result will also be valid mandatory and taken no more than 6 hours before the time of departure.
- Vaccinated travellers must take PCR tests upon arrival.
- Vaccinated travellers must take two more PCR tests on Day 4 and Day 8 of quarantine.
- Unvaccinated passengers taking a PCR test upon arrival along with quaranting for ten days and taking another PCR test on Day 9 was made mandatory.
Make sure you’re registered with ‘Tawajudi’ which is the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation official website HERE or download the UAEMOFAIC application on your smartphone. This will be required to help travellers be communicated or reached out to when in need of assistance.
