Here is Sharjah’s New Back to School COVID-19 Safety Guidelines for 2021/22

Most parents and guardians are worried about how the new academic year of 2021/22 will go and the safety of their children in the process. So, authorities in Sharjah announced the new Covid-19 safety guidelines for private schools this year and will begin from August 29th,2021 onwards.

Here are the guidelines for the school’s staff & teachers:

  • All school staff and pupils aged 12 and above must have a negative PCR test in order for them to return to schools
  • Both, the staff and teachers must receive both doses of COVID-19 vaccines unless, they are exempt due to a medical condition. ( proof of exemptions such as, a doctor’s report should be provided along with a weekly PCR testing to be done)
  • New unvaccinated school employees travelling to UAE from abroad will be allowed on school campus for two months in which they must receive the COVID-19 vaccines but until then, they will need to take a PCR test weekly.

Guidelines for returning students:

  • Students will not be required to get the vaccinations in order to return back to school however, Sharjah’s authorities have encouraged children to be vaccinated against COVID-19 to help control the spread of the virus.

If you’re wondering who are exempt from getting the Covid-19 vaccinations, The Ministry of Health & Protection in the UAE listed out seven categories:

  • Covid-19 patients
  • Pregnant women
  • Those who received their vaccination from abroad
  • Vounteers in clinical trials
  • Those showing sever sensitivity to past vaccines or to any components present in the vaccines
  • Those with a disease that might conflict with the vaccine; they wil only be exempt after receiving a medical evaluation
  • Those who have already been infected with the Covid-19 virus and recovered.

We know it’s a hard time for everyone especially after this exhausting year and a half but, do please follow the guidelines issued by the authorities and treat the staff at school with respect as they are only their best. Take care!
