Sharjah International Book Fair is the Next Big Event You Need to Visit!

The Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) will return for its 40th edition on November 3 and will run until November 13th! Plus, it will bring Nobel Prize laureate Abdulrazak Gurnah to the UAE in 2021, as well as screenwriters from the popular Netflix series ‘Money Heist.’

It will be held under the theme ‘There is always a right book,’ promises to strengthen the emirate’s cultural status as it sets the stage for a global line-up of authors, publishers, creatives, and intellectuals who will lead the fair’s 11-day activities.

On Wednesday, the announcement was made at a press conference in Sharjah that Expo Centre Sharjah will host 1,566 publishers from 83 countries and millions of titles under one roof!

There will also be musical concerts, such as ‘La Caramba,’ as well as a scriptwriting panel discussion led by the screenwriters of the Netflix series ‘Money Heist.’

In addition, Abdulrazak Gurnah, a Tanzanian novelist who won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2021, will be making his first international appearance since winning the prestigious award. The stellar lineup of international writers set to attend SIBF 2021 includes Chris Gardner, Yasmina Khadra, Amitav Ghosh, Chetan Bhagat, and the young inventor Gitanjali Rao from the United States.

Poet and artist Khalid Abdulrahman, author Ahlam Mosteghanemi, Dr Ahmed Emara, poet Hisham Algakh, actor Muhammad Subhi, poet Faisal Al Adwani, Egyptian jewellery designer Azza Fahmy, Egyptian author Dr Midhat Al Adl, historian Ali Al Namlah, Jordanian Booker champion Jalal Barjas, poet Haidar Mahmoud, and artist Ahmad Al Jasmi are among the notable Arab names.
