The earnings from Sheikha Bodour’s latest work in children’s literature called ‘World Book Capital’ will help rebuild Samir Mansour Library in Gaza.

Sheikha Bodour Al Qasimi, President of the International Publishers Association (IPA) and Founder and CEO of the Kalimat Group (KG) in the United Arab Emirates, will donate the whole earnings of her current book to a Palestinian bookstore in Gaza.

Sheikha Bodour praised readers of ‘World Book Capital’ for their crucial contribution in the reconstruction effort in a tweet.

The Samir Mansour Library, was opened 21 years ago, had over 100,000 books in many languages ranging from philosophy to art history to fiction and children’s books.

‘World Book Capital,’ an exciting story published by Kalimat Publishing in both Arabic and English, connects young generations to the beautiful places that have won the prestigious UNESCO ‘World Book Capital’ designation since 2001. The book debuted at the 12th Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival in May. (SCRF).

“We are grateful for the support of Sheikha Bodour towards our rebuilding efforts,” said Samir Mansour, founder and owner of the Samir Mansour Library. “We believe in the power of books to empower generations, and I hope that such initiatives will enhance knowledge resources in the community and protect our collective identity and memory as we build a better and brighter future for our country.  I am also grateful to all the readers who bought the first edition of World Book Capital as it has brought much-needed hope in the literary circles and everyday lives of the people of Gaza.”
