This new decision follows a drop in Omicron-driven coronavirus cases in the country since January 22, when cases peaked at 3,000 per day. Since then, the number of daily cases has been decreasing. On February 13, the UAE reported 1,266 new coronavirus cases and 2,513 recoveries.

The NCEMA announced in a briefing on February 9, 2022, that the capacity of people in entertainment venues, shopping centers, restaurants and cafes, worship places, and various modes of transportation would be lifted beginning in mid-February.

Check out the list of changes that will begin!

Social events

According to NCEMA’s official spokesperson, maximum capacity is allowed for social events such as weddings, events, and funerals. The authority did, however, state that each Emirate will determine the percentage of operating capacity for various social events.

Cinemas

The Ministry of Culture and Youth’s Media Regulatory Office announced on Sunday that cinemas in the UAE will begin operating at full capacity on February 15.

According to NCEMA, each emirate has the authority to change cinema capacity, easing or tightening procedures as they see fit.

Sports Venues

Sports facilities, such as football stadiums, will continue to operate at full capacity while adhering to the Al Hosn app’s Green Pass protocol. To enter the stadium, all visitors must have a Green Pass on their Al Hosn app or a negative PCR test that is no more than 96 hours old, according to the new rules.

Places of worship

Social distancing in mosques, churches, and other places of worship will be reduced to one metre under the new rules. The Authority stated that the situation will be closely monitored throughout February, and appropriate precautionary measures will be implemented to aid in the decision of maintaining or canceling the safe distance between worshippers.

The UAE still urges everyone to take the necessary precautions and to keep wearing masks and sanitizing hands! The UAE also urges people to take the booster shot if they can!

Stay safe everyone!
