UAE President Arrives in France For His First Official State Visit

UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan has arrived in France for his first official state visit since taking office in May.

His Highness was received by the French President Emmanuel Macron at the Èlysèe Palace, this Monday morning after arriving in Paris on July 17th, Sunday.

As reported by the state news agency WAM, the purpose of this foreign visit is for both leaders to explore opportunities for bilateral collaboration to address substantial challenges facing our world today, including climate change, energy, and economic sustainability. The two-day state visit will also be used for strengthening bilateral ties across culture, education and space and reviewing regional and international issues of common interest

Later in the evening, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed will be welcomed by the French President for a state dinner at the Grand Trianon, Palace of Versailles where several French officials including Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne; President of the Senate Gérard Larcher; and President of the National Assembly Yaël Braun-Pivet will also be present.

Relations between the UAE and France date back to the first visit of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan to France in 1976.
