Wohooo!!
Coming all the way from Munich, Germany, Maqamundo will be mesmerizing us with their fusion of Arabic and Flamenco music in the beautiful outdoors of House of Wisdom’s Northern Gardens!
MAQAMUNDO’s name represents its program: it’s a fusion of Arabic music (MAQAM: Arabic music scale) and Flamenco music (MUNDO: Spanish, meaning world). When the four musicians got together in 2012, they all came to an agreement that the two traditions were complementary, overlapping, and a great source of inspiration.
MAQAMUNDO is an acronym that stands for music that combines Oriental and Western cultures in a fresh and modern way. MAQAMUNDO primarily performs the compositions of their oud player Maruan Betawi, in addition to well-known pieces from the Arabic and Spanish traditions. This is echoed in the band’s debut album, “Orient Spirit” (released in 2020).
MAQAMUNDO is currently based in Munich, Germany. The four band members are all highly skilled musicians who pursue their individual artistic careers in a variety of national and international projects and bands.
They will play at the House of Wisdom on the 11th of February from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm! The price to enter is 100 AED!
