Witness the Beauty of Arabian Wildlife by Visiting This Place in Sharjah!

What does the fox say?

If you’re an animal lover, or a person that just loves the wildlife, then this place is just for you! Arabian Wildlife Centre has over 100 current and extinct species in their natural habitat. It’s also a perfect place for a family trip, scroll down to learn more!

Arabia’s Wildlife Centre, which is located in Sharjah Desert Park, is home to a variety of species, including the Arabian Oryx, the UAE’s national animal, and the Arabian leopard, the region’s most famous big cat. These endangered creatures come from the adjacent Sharjah wildlife center, where they are reared, and have their own spacious landscaped enclosures. Because they are rare animals to witness, it is a popular tourist destination in Sharjah.

It also is one of the largest places that cares for the Arabian wildlife animals!

What you’ll be able to see when you visit:

  • Reptiles & Insects – A variety of indigenous snakes, such as Saw-scaled Vipers, Puff Adders, and Arabian Cobras, can be seen in their natural habitat. Along with the snakes, there are a variety of lizards, freshwater fish, amphibians, and insects on show.
  • Aviary – Several kinds of local birds, including weavers, partridges, and Houbara Bustards, live in a vast walk-through aviary with mountain, desert, and water settings. The aviary’s trail also takes you past three tiny predator enclosures and into a cave where Egyptian fruit bats and Omani blind cave fish can be observed.
  • Nocturnal House – Many nocturnal animals such as foxes, genet, mongoose, wildcat, Honey Badger, hedgehogs, porcupines, and other rodents can be spotted here because the day-night cycle has been switched.
  • Large Carnivores & Primates – This portion takes you past five big enclosures that house Hamadryas Baboons, Cheetahs, Arabian Wolfs, Striped Hyaenas, and the Arabian Leopard. Without a fence in sight, each species is held in its natural habitat

There also is a cafeteria there where you can eat some good food with the view of the large antelope exhibit where Arabian Oryx, gazelle and Ostrich roam. Nubian Ibex, Greater Flamingo can also be seen on the mountain there.

As you walk around the Wildlife Centre, information panels and recordings offer you with information about each of the species on display, ensuring that you have a better grasp of, and hopefully a new appreciation for, Arabia’s terrestrial biodiversity.

There are other things to do with kids at the local wildlife sanctuary and nature reserve. The children’s area includes a petting zoo, making it one of the best destinations for families to visit in Sharjah.

Even in the summer, the entire experience may be experienced in the comfort of the Wildlife Centre’s climate-controlled setting, making it an ideal destination for a family adventure.

His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Sharjah, founded Arabias Wildlife Centre in 1999. And we owe him tons of our gratitude for making this happen. It is definitely a place you MUST visit whether you live in Sharjah or just visiting.
