Straight up BOSS MOVES!
Nora Al-Matrooshi is shaking the Arab world right now as she is the first Arab, let alone the first Emirati woman to receive training to go to space!!
Nora’s journey started when she was a little girl in kindergarten and was asked to build a tent, pretending it was a spacecraft on her journey towards space.
She then went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from UAE University and then represented her nation at the United Nations Youth Conference in 2018 & 2019.
Now, a few months ago, UAE announced that they recruited their first female Emirati astronaut who also happened to be the Arab World’s first female astronaut! She will be appearing alongside Mohammad Al Mulla who are the second pair to be part of UAE’s space program.
Both, Nora and Mohammad also appeared at a press conference in July to speak about their experience of being recruited into the space program, and when Nora explained her background and that she comes from a family of sailors.
She hopes to break all stereotypes of a patriarchal society that questions her credentials on a daily basis and her achievements have surely done that.
Nora Al Matrooshi’s recruitment means so much to the little girl dream to be up there looking down on the earth from space, giving exactly what women in this world need… a chance, a chance to prove they can do what they are set out to do, to reach for the stars!
So Proud of our Emirati Women!
