Najd Al-Maqsar village is an important element of Khorfakkan’s history, reflecting what is part of UAE’s hundreds of years old heritage and culture.
It was transformed into a tourist attraction as part of UAE’s plan to reconstruct and preserve the archaeological sites of the Emirates.
The village has many pieces of evidence and artefacts that indicate people were in fact living here thousands of years old; some of those monuments include drawings of animals such as, camels and horses engraved on rocks and are estimated to be from around 2000 BC! Tourists will also get to view the thirteen old houses dating back from 100 years ago.
The upper section of the village includes the fortress that is located at the top of the Khorfakkan mountain and was part of the defensive network of Khorfakkan’s city.
The history is so rich here that there were proofs present on-site of the number of people who were displaced in from the Khorfakkan city to the Wadi ‘Washi’ region and all this was during the Middle Age when the Portuguese were colonizing the region
It’s a 40 minutes ride from Sharjah which is perfect for a little weekend road trip with the fam!
These kind of places are truly mesmerising to visit as they remind us how beautiful and historical UAE’s heritage and culture is!🇦🇪
