FIFA Confirms UAE Will Now Be The New Host of Club World Cup in Early 2022

After Japan had to back out from hosting the tournament due to Covid-19, FIFA announced Club World Cup will now be held in early 2022 then no other than UAE!

Abu Dhabi will most likely be hosting the annual competition, bringing the six global confederations winners and the host nations’ league champions to play against each other.

Here are the teams we’ll be watching play against each other:

  • Chelsea (United Kingdom) – UEFA Champions League 2020/21 Winners
  • Al Ahly (Egypt) – CAF Champions League Winners
  • Auckland City (New Zealand) – Nominated by OFC
  • Al Jazira ( UAE) – UAE Pro League 2020/21 Winners
  • TBD – CONCACAF Champions League 2020/21 Winners
  • TBD – AFC Champions League 2021 Winners
  • TBD – Copa Libertadores 2021 Winners

Although it’s been announced that the much-delayed tournament will take place in the early months of next year, the exact dates of the matches is yet to be disclosed.
