Lionel Messi Leaves FC Barçelona and We Don’t Know What to Feel

“Adiós Barça” – Lionel Messi

Lionel Messi, the 6 time Ballon D’Or winner, is leaving his childhood club of Barçelona. The announcement came after it was announced that after his contract ended in June, both Barça and Messi had agreed on a new contract so that he could stay on.

The move which surprised everyone came about due to issues with financial and structural guidelines that the Spanish league, La Liga had set up.

Because of this move, Lionel Messi, widely considered the Greatest Of All Time, the 6 time Ballon d’Or winner, the highest goal scorer for Barça (672 goals) is as of right now without a club for the 2021-2022 season.

Fans have mourned the passing of Messi’s Barcelona career. Perhaps the most talented footballer of our time, Messi has been entertaining and enthralling fans since he first set foot on a football pitch. His partnership with Ronaldinho, his rivalry with Cristiano Ronaldo and Real Madrid, none of these will be forgotten anytime soon.

He won 34 trophies with Barça. THIRTY-FOUR!

We will miss him. We’ll miss his name being echoed through Camp Nou. We’ll miss the quick runs and spectacular goals all while wearing the red and blue.

But, at the same time, we would be lying if weren’t curious and excited to see where he would go next? PSG to team up with Neymar again? Italy so that he can reignite his rivalry with Ronaldo? Or will he take the route most ageing footballers take and try his hand in the US? To be honest, we still think he has decades of excellence still left in him.

How do you feel about this turn of events?
