What an incredible achievement!
The Sharjah Cricket Stadium made history by hosting the same number of international games as Australia’s Sydney Cricket Ground!
Sharjah hosted its 280th international cricket match, a DP World Asia Cup match between Pakistan and Hong Kong. That is an extraordinary achievement for a country that is only an Associate member of the International Cricket Council.
Sharjah has hosted 244 One-Day Internationals, 9 Tests, and 27 T20 Internationals so far. Sharjah surpassed Sydney Cricket Ground in hosting the most international matches as Pakistan faced Hong Kong in the final Group A match of the DP World Asia Cup.
Sharjah also holds the title for hosting the most One-Day Internationals, with 244. The first ever Asia Cup match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka was played in Sharjah in 1984.
