Boston Dynamics has done it again. But we’re not sure how to feel about it though.
Boston Dynamics is an American engineering and robotics design company founded in 1992. But it’s in the last decade or so that they’ve been a topic of discussion amongst the larger population. Boston Dynamics is without question the most well-known robotics company. And, it owes all of its success to the engineers that work there, and to some videos that have freaked out the world.
And now, they’re back with Atlas, one of the world’s first bipedal robots. As always, Atlas is the best in its class, with a top speed of 5.4 km/h, it is designed as an R&D project. The aim of the project was the explore the possibilities of full mobility movement. Essentially, they’re trying to make this figure full of wires, nuts, bolts, and circuit boards more humanlike. And the best way to test that? Make it do parkour of course!
The guys at Boston Dynamics have also released a rare behind-the-scenes look at how they designed and made their robot.
Honestly, we don’t really know how to feel about this. On one hand, we can’t help but marvel at the technological advancement. On the other hand, robots that can do parkour? Nope, we just decided. It’s cool as heck and we can’t wait for more.
We are doing the Robot, it is a robot
