Okay, this is lowkey exciting!
The Etihad Rail network is a project designed to link up all seven emirates of UAE and the east coast to Saudi Arabia’s border, and as of now the first phase of the project, which is connecting Shah and Habshan to Ruwais has already been completed and in operation. The next stage starts from the border of Saudi Arabia’s Ghuweifat stretching about 1,000km to UAE’s east coast, Fujairah, and is rapidly progressing to complete the railway network in time.

This project was planned with the idea to focus on transporting goods, along with constructing new roads through the mounatians between Dubai and Fujairah. Don’t worry tho! you will eventually get to travel on this, as passenger trains is a key part of the project and Etihad Rail is working very closely with the Federal Transport Authority and other transport authorites across UAE to make it happen.

One of the benefits that came out of starting this project was the cut down of up to 80% of the carbon emissions as fewer road and truck journeys are used to transport goods around the country.
#Etihad_Rail, will serve as an alternative to the highway network in the UAE, as one train eliminates the presence of nearly 300 trucks on the road, which means a reduction in carbon emissions by 70-80% pic.twitter.com/A18xP4Gc4n

Although, this may take some time to be completed, it is still very exciting to know we could start travelling again and go back to normal ASAP, because oh boy do we need it!
