Aww yay finally!
For a fee, Etihad Airways, the UAE’s national carrier, has allowed passengers to travel with their pet cats and dogs in the cabin!
Pets (cats or dogs) should be at least 16 weeks old and weigh no more than 8kg (including the carrier weight). To travel with a pet, the passenger must be at least 18 years old.
Traveling with a cat or dog in Economy costs $150 for flights of six hours or less, and $250 for flights of more than six hours. If the passenger is in transit, the combined fare will apply. Passengers traveling in Business or First Class must reserve an extra seat for their pet in advance.
Since September 30, 2021, the Abu Dhabi-based airline has allowed trained service animals – pet cats and dogs – on board its flights.
It stated that the animals must be properly behaved in public and will not be accepted in the cabin if they exhibit any disruptive behavior such as growling, biting, jumping, or causing damage to the cabin. Emotional support animals, comfort animals, companionship animals, and service animals in training, on the other hand, are not considered service animals.
Passengers who are traveling with a trained service animal should notify the airline at least 48 hours before their flight and must submit a booking form at least 72 hours before the flight.
If you’re traveling with a dog, he/she must sit within the passenger’s seat space and be harnessed, leashed, or tethered at all times during the flight, according to the information posted on Etihad’s website.
Travelers can also purchase an adjacent seat for their pets to sit in their carrier.
