Sheikh Mohammed opens Dubai’s stunning ‘book-shaped’ library!

A place of wonder

The biggest library in the MENA region has been finally inaugurated by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, a book stand-shaped library posting about Dh1 billion to build!

The newly opened Mohammed Bin Rashid Library has a design resembling an open book sitting on a rehl, a traditional lectern that is usually used to hold the Holy Book of Qu’ran.

The seven floors are not just filled with an immense selection of books that will draw all the bibliophiles to its doors with 10 different libraries for visitors to check out, it includes:

  • A General Library Space
  • Youth Library
  • Children’s Library
  • A library dedicated to maps and atlases
  • A media and art library
  • Business library
  • An Emirates library
  • A periodicals library
  • ‘Treasure of the Library’, an exhibition space showcasing books.

The book-shaped library contains so much more attractions inside that we usually wouldn’t see inside a library! It will also accommodate various special venues for hosting events, as well as a section dedicated to real historical belongings alongside galleries and exhibition spaces.

The library is located in Al Jaddaf and will be opening its doors to the public this Thursday, June 16th 2022.
