Your next Sharjah culture plan can start on the sofa. SAF Radio, the online radio platform from Sharjah Art Foundation, brings music and cultural programming within reach of a pair of headphones.
For an evening when choosing what to watch feels like another task, its ASWAAT show offers a different starting point: pick a mix and give it time to unfold.
What is SAF Radio?
The Foundation describes SAF Radio as a bilingual online initiative featuring music, voices and stories from the region and beyond. Its programming spans music shows, artist playlists and cultural explorations, alongside selected recordings from the Foundation’s archive.
This is an online listening option, so you do not need to plan a visit to a gallery to explore it. The official site is the place to check what is available when you want to tune in.
Start with ASWAAT
ASWAAT is organised around moods rather than a single genre. Each episode is an uninterrupted, hour-long mix, with music moving across languages, eras and traditions. The Foundation describes each season as 12 episodes; its show page currently lists episodes 01 through 24.
That gives you a simple way in: choose an episode instead of building a playlist from scratch. You can make it the soundtrack to a quiet evening, or set aside an hour specifically for listening.
How to find an episode
-
Open the official SAF Radio page on Sharjah Art Foundation’s website.
-
Select ASWAAT from the shows section.
-
Choose an episode and read its description and track list before starting your listen.
For a specific starting point, the Foundation describes ASWAAT 02 as an unhurried afternoon listen. Explore the episode page to see whether its selections suit your mood.
