Sharjah Architecture Triennial’s third edition opens on 14 November 2026 and runs until 14 April 2027. Its opening programme is listed for 14–19 November, with conversations, workshops, screenings and tours across Sharjah.
What does the theme mean?
The edition is titled Architecture Otherwise: Building Civic Infrastructure for Collective Futures. In everyday terms, the organisers are asking how places and shared systems help people live together.
The Triennial’s announcement on e-flux describes projects addressing subjects such as public space, food, movement and education through installations, films and other formats. It is curated by Vyjayanthi Rao, with Tau Tavengwa as Associate Curator.
Choose a subject before building an itinerary
Our suggestion for a first visit: start with a question from your own neighbourhood. Where do people gather? What makes a place comfortable to spend time in? How do you move between home, work and everyday errands? Then look for a programme item that connects with that question.
Consult the organiser’s opening-week programme for individual venues, times and registration details before setting out. The opening week and the five-month exhibition period are different schedules; a tour or talk should not be assumed to repeat throughout the edition.
For another creative opportunity this November, explore the Focal Point art book fair’s opportunity for UAE artists.
