A craft session can give your Sharjah International Book Fair visit a focus. Three workshops this November invite participants to build a heritage chest, a wind tower model or a wooden clock.
All three are listed for 7pm to 9:30pm in Hall 7’s Arts & Expression District. Here is how the projects compare.
6 November: The Beautiful Mandoos
A mandoos is a traditional chest. In this workshop, participants assemble more than 40 pieces to make a model. It is a way to explore a heritage object through its construction.
Ages 15 and above. Ticket: AED50.
13 November: Al Barjeel Model
The Al Barjeel session introduces features of traditional Sharjah houses through a three-dimensional wooden model. The barjeel is a wind tower, one of the architectural features children will explore as they assemble the pieces.
Ages 10 to 17, based on the listing’s minimum age and under-18 category. Ticket: AED30.
14 November: Wooden Clock Design
In Wooden Clock Design, participants use colourful cubes and pieces to create a clock. The parts can be rearranged, giving them room to try different patterns and shapes.
Ages 15 and above. Ticket: AED50.
Choose your session and book
Each official workshop page has a seat-reservation link. Choose the project and age group that suit you, then book around the evening session. That leaves time to browse the books earlier in your visit.
