Stories about fishing grounds, wind and familiar places will become drawings at Reimagine Maps, a free workshop at Al Hamriyah Studios on 14 November, from 4pm to 6pm.
Sharjah Art Foundation’s workshop listing invites participants to meet a fisher or resident of Al Hamriyah, hear their memories and turn those accounts into visual maps.
Listen, then draw
Participants will use lines, symbols and colours to respond to the stories. It offers a way to explore how personal memories shape our understanding of a place, with listening as much a part of the session as drawing.
Who can join?
The session is for ages 15 and above, in Arabic and English. Attendance and materials are free.
Register through the Al Hamriyah Autumn Programme form and select Reimagine Maps. The form also has a space to request accessibility support.
