Which stories survive on film, and which are missing? A free course at The Flying Saucer in Dasman, Sharjah will explore those questions from 20 to 22 November 2026, 6pm to 9pm.

What you will explore

Led by Rashmi Devi Sawhney, Sharjah Art Foundation’s Memory, History and Film Archives course looks at how moving images influence our understanding of the past.

Participants will work with moving images and archival materials while discussing whose perspectives appear in collections and whose stories are overlooked. For anyone interested in documentaries, art or history, it offers a way to look more closely at the choices behind the images we see.

Who can join

The course is in English and open to adults aged 18 and over. No film or archive experience is required. Attendance and materials are free.

The foundation’s course programme asks participants to commit to all three days, so set aside the full weekend before applying.
